Succession Initiated at AMA Association for Sensor Technology
After 17 years of active service for the members of AMA Association for Sensor Technology, its current General Secretary, Dr. Dirk Rein, will enter retirement in August 2009. Reason enough for the AMA board to pursue his timely succession with ample time to learn the ropes. Active October 15, AMA has secured Dr. Thomas Simmons as second General Secretary, who is now in the process of familiarizing himself with the manifold aspects of AMA, before taking on sole responsibility in 2009.
Simmons, who began his career as a physicist, has extensive industrial experience including business development, marketing and sales. His most recent stay was with Aktiv Sensor GmbH in Stahnsdorf, Germany, where he successfully provided Key Account Management and International Business Development.
AMA Association for Sensor Technology represents the interests of the growing field of sensor technology in Europe. In its field, AMA owns and produces the most important trade show worldwide, the SENSOR+TEST. Currently, AMA comprises more than 430 members - mostly small and medium sized companies as well as research institutes. European sensor technology manufacturers have a combined global market share of about 40%, with an annual turnover of approximately 27-30 billion Euros, and directly provide about 300,000 European high tech jobs.
