AMA Association
Membership
According to the current AMA bylaws, an organization, i.e. a company or an institute, can become an AMA member. Personal memberships are exceptions described as having “ideal ties” with the association and its objectives, without any commercial interests. A membership application is submitted to the Executive Board and the membership is usually confirmed within a few days.
Most of the services provided by the AMA Association are free of charge for its members. Members usually receive a price reduction for commercial events organized by the AMA (either directly or through the AMA Service organization). These events are of-course open to non-members as well.
Formally the AMA is an association under German law, registered in the association register in Berlin.
From 470 members, about 10% have a foreign address and a considerable number of foreign suppliers maintain a membership through their subsidiaries in Germany. In other words, the AMA Association does not ask, whether a membership application comes from Germany or abroad, nor whether the applicant is a manufacturer, distributor, or service provider. The decisive criterion is whether the prospective member is involved in sensor or measuring technology. Correspondence is usually carried out in German.
The bylaws of the AMA Association for Sensor Technology state its objective as the advancement of European sensor and measuring technology as an industry with three aims: the advancement of an exchange of ideas and experience among its members, the advancement of contacts between members and their customers, as well as an overall advancement of the industry and its technologies.
