AMA Market Statistics
Since 1992, the AMA Association has carried out a poll to assess the market potential for sensor technology in Germany and provided data on which business decisions can be based in the industry. The AMA market statistics target German suppliers as well as the subsidiaries of foreign makers and examines the turnover within a calendar year. The poll considers all products which contain at least one sensor element and is based on the AMA nomenclature. This nomenclature was developed for the AMA Directory of Services , a detailed classification of sensor products. The AMA nomenclature has been introduced on the market and can be adopted by trade fairs and journals in part or as a whole with the consent of the AMA Association.
The AMA market statistics are processed by a notary, who ensures for all parties that no individual report can be attributed to a given company. The results of the poll are only given to the organizations that have contributed their figures to the statistics. Within the last few years, 125 to 150 companies have regularly participated in the poll, many of these since its introduction in 1992. This corresponds to about 20% of the potential participants.
The deadline for the 2006 report was 15 February 2007, for the 2007 report the deadline will be around the middle of February 2008.
