Study on “Information Sources on Sensor Technology – From the User Perspective”
Just about as complex as the Central European sensor technology industries are the sources, which users can access to obtain information. There are special trade magazines, Web portals, as well as trade fairs and conferences, where technology and application orientation can be obtained. How are users then to find their way around? The AMA attempted to answer this question. The results of the study amplifies the impression of a plethora of media sources:
438 magazine titles were named, about 60% more than in 1998, exactly 1,200 Internet-supported databases and Web portals (1998 the question was posed differently), and 224 trade fairs and (some) conferences were named, about 30% more than in 1998. And since the German user does not travel abroad for obtaining information, practically all the stated fairs have their venue in Germany.
Thanks to the high returns and the number of entries, the study was able to include rankings of magazines, Web databases, and trade fairs according to various criteria: per user industry, per region, etc. The study can be useful for users, suppliers, and service providers of sensor technology as a planning aid for advertisement and as a source for choosing the best suited media. The study can also be used by the information providers themselves, the publishers, or fair organizers as a help in determining venues.
The study has 45 pages of text including 44 tables, 40 of which at hit lists. The complete evaluations are listed in a comprehensive appendix.
