• Advancement of an exchange of ideas and experience among AMA members
  Consists primarily of the committees of various competence fields and the Science Committee as discussion groups among experts of the member organizations, in which an exchange of ideas and experiences takes place and occasionally business is done as well. These discussion groups are also platforms on which requirements are stated, which can then be processed as concrete projects. This is usually carried out under the auspices of the members of the respective committee; after appropriation of the budget, the project is usually implemented by the AMA office.
  
  
• Advancement of contacts between AMA members and their customers
  Consists primarily of AMA events, the SENSOR+TEST trade fairs with conferences, and diverse AMA Centres for Sensor, Measuring, and Testing Technology at major user-oriented fairs in Germany and abroad. Another means of advancement can be found in the various product and service directories, which have been published by the AMA since its inception. As references and databanks, these directories can provide information on suppliers and service providers. The AMA press day, at which members can take part, can also be considered in this context.
  
  
• Overall advancement of the industry and its technologies
  This category can perhaps be best described as lobbying efforts, by no means limited to the political level, but rather including all areas of public relations.
