SENSOR Innovation Award
SENSOR Innovation Award 2008
Participation rules and entry form for the SENSOR Innovation Award 2008
Submission deadline was January 16, 2008.
25 applications for the SENSOR Innovation Award were received before the submission deadline. Of these, nine came from outside Germany. Three were invalid because they either arrived too late at the AMA office or did not adhere to participation rules. According to the participation rules, after the submission deadline has been passed, a list of the applications is published: list of participators
The jury 2008:
Chairman
Prof. Dr. Andreas Schütze Universität Saarbrücken - Lehrstuhl Messtechnik
Jurors
Jürgen Berger, VDI/VDE-Innovation + Technik, Berlin
Dr. Heinrich Höfler, Fraunhofer IPM, Freiburg
Axel Lentzer, NXP Semiconductors Germany GmbH, Hamburg
Prof. Dr. Hans-J. Lilienhof, Fachhochschule Gelsenkirchen
Prof. Dr. Wilfried Mokwa, Fraunhofer IMS Duisburg / RWTH Aachen
Prof. Dr. Hans-Rolf Tränkler, Universität der Bundeswehr München – IMA
Dr. Gerd Wartmann, Endress + Hauser Consult AG, CH - Reinach
Prof. Dr. Jürgen Wilde, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg - IMTEK
Entries are judged by their height of innovation, the prize is not meant to award basic academic research. Rather, it is intended for practically useful applications. And finally, the rule states that this prize goes to the developers, e.g. the actual heads, and not to companies or institutes behind the development.
Of the 25 applications, nine came from outside Germany, and three works are of such outstanding quality that the jury nominated them on February 14, 2008:
Intelligent Multisensoric Writing System BiSP®
Fachhochschule Regensburg - Fakultät Elektro- und Informationstechnik (University of Applied Sciences Regensburg, Electronics and Information Technology Department)
Team spokesman: Prof. Dr. Jürgen Kempf
SensFloor® - Sensitive Floor Covering for “Ambient Assisted Living” Applications
Future-Shape GmbH / Ing.-Büro Rupert Glaser
Team spokeswoman: Christl Lauterbach, Future-Shape GmbH, Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn
Spectrally Tuneable Infrared Detector with Micromechanical Fabry Perot Filter
InfraTec GmbH GB Sensorik / Technichal University Chemnitz - Centre for Microtechnologies / Fraunhofer IZM - Chemnitz, Dept. Multi Device Integration
Team spokesman: Dr. Norbert Neumann, InfraTec GmbH, Dresden
In contrast to past years, this time the jury members did not register a specific trend in the innovations. Rather, the three nominations reflect the broad innovative scope in sensor technology and its applications, well in keeping with the broad range of sensor technology and its applications represented at the SENSOR+TEST trade fare.
In a second round, the jury decided to present this year’s SENSOR Innovation Award to the team from InfraTec GmbH. Under applause by invited guests, AMA Executive Board Chairman Prof. Florian Solzbacher and Jury Chairman Prof. Andreas Schütze presented the award to Dr. Norbert Neumann (InfraTec GmbH, Dresden), Dr. Karla Hiller (TU Chemnitz - ZMT) und Dr. Steffen Kurth (Fraunhofer IZM Chemnitz) on May 06, 2008 during the SENSOR+TEST opening ceremony.
